Ken Springett

Sadly our Life Vice-President Ken Springett passed away in the early hours of Sunday 11 October aged 82.

Ken was a devoted supporter of Barnet Football Club for nearly 40 years. For over 25 years as a BFCSA commitee member he was a busy volunteer at Underhill, including being a turnstile operator, assisting in the tea bars and the club shop.

Ken was a true gentleman and friend, the club has lost one of its most loyal and popular supporters. He was always one you could trust to tell stories about what the club was like many years ago. Ken you are gone but always will be remembered as a true and loyal supporter of the club.

Ken was admitted to hospital on 12 September after a fall when the coach had arrived back from the Macclesfield Town away match. Ken had a wonderful spirit and was universally liked by all those he met. We offer our condolences to his family. Many of you will know his son and daughter, Alan and Ann, and son-in-law Steve, all of whom are Barnet supporters.

Rest in Peace Ken.

Ken's funeral service will take place on Tuesday 20 October at 2.15 pm at New Southgate Crematorium (formerly Great Northern London Cemetery) Brunswick Park Road, London N11 1JJ. Everyone is welcome. Then from 3.00pm in the Durham Suite at Barnet Football Club.

Those wishing to make a memory gift should make cheques payable to RNLI (The Royal National Lifeboat Institution) and send c/o Chas A. Nethercott & Sons Ltd, 150 Darkes Lane, Potters Bar Hertfordshire EN6 1AF. For those who prefer flowers please contact Maison Des Fleurs, 100 High Street, Potters Bar, Hertfordshire EN6 5AT

BFCSA Committee Statement   BFCSA Programme Notes
A statement from the BFCSA committee following last week's match against Dagenham & Redbridge. 05/10/2009   Alex's BFCSA page from the programmes.

Worth the 50p price hike on their own!

Notts County
Millwall (unpublished!)
Bradford
Dagenham & Redbridge

(Note, my tongue is firmly in my cheek with the reference to the price. Compare a football programme with a programme from a pop band. The latter will probably be a few glossy photos, and maybe the names of the band. Each tour date will have exactly the same programme. And it will cost £15 or so. Footy programmes are well worth the money IMHO. Especially Barnet's :-)

Rotherham 3-0 Barnet   Ian Hendon Hangs Up His Boots
Oh well. 26/09/2009   'Ian Hendon to hang up his boots after 20 years as a professional'...

... ran the headline in July 2009 on the Club's, the BBC's and indeed the football world's websites – they are just a size 8 by the way. Another Reckless interview. 21/09/2009

Macclesfield Town 1-1 Barnet   The BFCSA Salute Dick Rolfe
The Bees are held to a draw in sunny Macclesfield. 12/09/2009   Dick Rolfe has been part of the Underhill matchday experience in the tannoy box for over 30 years.

He was presented with the Barnet Football Club Supporters Association Lester Finch Award for 2009 during the Notts County game. 08/09/2009

Interview with Eddie Thompson - BFCSA Chairman   Barnet 1-0 Notts County
A Reckless moment with BFCSA Chairman, Eddie Thompson. 31/08/2009   Sven Goran Eriksson...

... ha ha-ha ha ha! 31/08/2009

Barnet Player Hints & Tips   Barnet 2-0 Morecambe
The BFCSA agreed to put this up for anyone having problems with the 'Barnet Player' commentary service from the official website. 21/08/2009   First three points of the season! 18/08/2009

Village BFCSA International Day 2009/10   Reckless Meets Roger Figg
This season's International Day will be on 27 March 2010.

This is the same day as the Burton Albion home game. Further details to be announced. 04/08/2009

A name synonymous with Barnet Football Club and the 1960s is Roger Figg. The reasons?

Well, over 250 goals in eight seasons is one for a start. Couple that with nine goals in nine England Amateur Internationals and then add that he formed lethal strike partnerships with both Tony Harding and Les Eason in Barnet teams that won 3 championships in a row between 1963 and 1966 and we might begin to understand. 05/08/2009
