Good
evening and welcome to the BFCSA page.
Last time I mentioned we would be
doing a feature on the BFCSA Committee. Well to get the
ball rolling here is a man who probably doesn't need too
much introduction, the one and only (luckily) John
Adkins, aka Village.

Most of you
know me as 'Village' and I've now been supporting Barnet
for eleven years. When I first started attending
Underhill I was just an ordinary supporter standing on
the East Terrace.
As time
progressed I got involved in writing match reports for
the Barnet Press, which has now ceased, but still do
things for the clubs website, as well as player
interviews and post-match comments.
I also have
the unofficial title of Barnet Overseas Supporters
Liaison Officer, which was given to me by Mr. Tony
Kleanthous in recognition of the work I do answering
queries from foreign countries. This came about some
years ago after meeting some members of the Norwegian
Supporters Club at a reserve match at Leyton Orient. We
have been great friends ever since.
As well as
Norway I have regular contacts from Japan, Australia,
Israel, Sweden, Holland and Germany, some of whom I've
met when they have visited England.
Apart from
this, during the course of last season, I became the
membership secretary for the Supporters Association. So,
if anybody would like to join see me where I sell
programmes outside the Westcombe Drive entrance or by the
Police room at half time.
On a more
personal note, I have a lot of spare time on my hands,
due to being medically retired off work just over eleven
years ago. I used to work as a bus driver, which I did
for 29 years.
I am on my
second marriage and will reach the silver anniversary in
2004. My wife and I both have two adult children from our
previous marriages and have a nineteen-year-old son
ourselves. There are also ten grandchildren, which can
cause headaches, especially at Christmas and Birthdays.
I fully
enjoy my role within the club and having a large family.
Watching your children grow up and have children of their
own is one of the greatest pleasures in life.
