Barnet's Greg Heald was chosen as top centre back in the
Nationwide Conference by votes from all the managers at
the AGM. Daryl Clare was additionally voted the
Nationwide Player of the Year after netting 25 Conference
goals. Meanwhile the Government Office for London, which
promised a decision on the Barnet FC planning application
for a new stadium to the south of Underhill "after
the May 2 local elections", has sprung a bombshell -
a further delay until after the Barnet Council meeting on
June 24.

With manager Mark Wright away on holiday very little news
is coming out from the Deva at the moment. Wright's
assistant Ted McMinn is continuing talks with both Scott
Guyett and Gary Brabin. Guyett has another year left on
his contract at Oxford United and is believed to be
interesting other clubs, United would want a fee of
around £10,000 for the defender who played under Wright
at Southport as well. City chairman Stephen Vaughan said
Guyett is on Mark Wright's shopping list and, if a
realistic fee can be agreed, then I will have no
hesitation in making an official approach for the
player."

The Dagenham & Redbridge players will report back
from their summer breaks on Thursday 4th July to commence
pre-season training. The first pre-season friendly will
be on Friday 19th July at Bideford. The Kick off time for
this game is now 7.15pm.

Despite various newspaper stories Doncaster Rovers
maintain that nobody at the club has been contacted with
regards to Andy Watson from Sunderland. Boss Dave Penney
said "No one from Sunderland has said anything to me
regarding the trial and until they contact us we will
leave it at that."

Rocky Baptiste, the former Luton Town striker, who scored
11 goals in 22 games for Farnborough Town last season has
been surprisingly transfer listed by the ambitious
Conference club. Boss Graham Westley made the
announcement after meeting with Baptiste on Monday
evening. "Rocky has not held down his first team
shirt throughout the season when he ought to have
done." At the same time he confirmed that Miguel De
Souza would be leaving the club following the expiry of
his contract. Gary Crawshaw has also now left the club.

Forest Green Rovers striker Alex Meechan has signed a new
contract on Wednesday to keep him at The Lawn for next
season. The Plymouth born hitman joined Rovers originally
on loan from Bristol City.

Framcis Duku has signed a new one year contract with the
club in the face of stiff opposition from another club.
Matt Lee has also signed a new contract which means that
almost all of last year's squad have committed themselves
for the new season.

Halifax Town AFC will find out on Thursday of this week
how much, if any, Youth Funding money they will receive.
Tony Kniveton, General Manager, says "Thursday's
decision will be important for the future of the club. It
is important that clubs like Halifax Town AFC have a
youth set-up in place in order to bring young talent into
the club." "Previously we have seen the likes
of Wayne Allinson, Lee Richardson, Phil Whitehead, Jamie
Paterson, Robert Herbert, Andy Farrell and more recently
Nicky Heinemann break into the first team at Halifax Town
AFC and inevitably some of these players have then moved
on, which has brought in much needed revenue to the club.
I hope the Football League look upon Halifax Town
favourably in order for the current Youth Team and Centre
of Excellence to continue."

Manager Graham Turner has revealed that he is on the
verge of bolstering his Hereford United squad for next
season. Talks are at an advanced stage with three players
over moves to Edgar Street and they will form part of
what Turner hopes will be an eighteen-man squad for next
season, with the vast majority being full-time
professionals. However, until the deals have been signed
and sealed, the players will remain nameless. Meanwhile
Ex-Hereford United midfielder John Snape has joined local
rivals Worcester City of the Dr. Martens League Premier
Division.

Richard Butcher, Kettering's Player of the Year for last
season, has signed a new contract to keep him at the club
until 2004. Garry Hughes and Brad Piercewright have also
agreed new deals for the 2002/3 season. However Steve
Lenagh has been released and striker, Steve Wilkinson,
has retired to concentrate on coaching at Loughborough
University.

RMI boss Steve Waywell has signed Altrincham goalkeeper
and their current 'Player of the Year', Stuart Coburn, on
a 2 year contract. Steve has been chasing Stuart for some
time as he believes that he is the best keeper in the
North West. Waywell said "We have lost a good keeper
in Mark Westhead but I believe that we have got a great
signing and its a real coup for the Club". Coburn
has taken a drop in wages to play for Leigh but he is
anxious to play Conference football again. Both Ian Monk
and Jamie Udall have advised Steve that they are to
remain at the Club.

Margate Football Club Manager Chris Kinnear has revealed
that he is in the final stages of discussions with two
new defenders. A club spokesman commented: Chris
has made it clear that as a club we are committed to
improving our squad in order to make a challenge for the
Conference title. In conjunction with improving our
ground to be one of the best in the league. We expect to
be able to make announcements about these two players
soon and I do not expect them to be the last players to
join the club during the close season.

Iain Swan has told Leigh RMI Manager Steve Waywell that
he has decided to sign for Morecambe. Iain is sad to be
leaving RMI and is only going for full-time football.
After much speculation, Jim Bentley finally put pen to
paper and signed for Morecambe after negotiations were
completed with the 6' 1" central defedner at
Christie Park early on Wednesday evening. Bentley joins
the Shrimps after spending 5 seasons with the Shropshire
club, Telford United.

Jimmy Quinn and assistant Steve Davis are set to meet and
discuss their pre-season plans this week. Quinn has just
returned from Hong Kong, where he played in a veterans'
sevens tournament alongside German goalscoring legend
Jurgen Klinsmann.

After several weeks of negotiation, Boro's top scorer for
last season has signed for 2nd division side Northampton
Town. Meanwhile Scarborough Football Club has announced
The Scarborough Evening News as the new main sponsors for
the forthcoming season. The Evening News has been a
long-standing sponsor of the club but it is now set to
significantly increase its backing with a deal that will
see the Scarborough Evening News logo on Boro's shirts
and on advertising hoardings around the ground.

Southport boss Phil Wilson isn't optimistic about
Farnborough's newly transfer listed Rocky Baptiste,
writing on his Southport website he said: "I have
been asked about Farnborough's Rocky Baptiste as he has
been placed on the transfer list this week at his own
request. Although I haven't done anything about this,
Rocky I'm sure will not want to join us part-time and was
on incredible money at Farnborough. I don't think we can
really afford to pursue him."

Wayne Turner went straight into action on his return from
Hong Kong to secure the signature today of Simon Travis,
on a 2 year deal from Forest Green Rovers. Meanwhile Boro
have announced 5 prestigious pre-season matches for next
season, including a testimonial for Paul Fairclough on
Wednesday 17th July.

Woking Football Club have signed 22 year old Chris
Collins on a one-year deal for an undisclosed fee. Chris
is signed from Doc Martens' side Newport IOW F.C. and has
also played for Southampton.
yeovil
town
Yeovil Town have announced that midfielder Andy Turner
has left the club by mutual consent. Turner failed to
feature in the squad over the last couple of months of
the season and spent periods on loan at Nuneaton Borough
and Kettering. Francis Kumbur has also left the club, as
he didn't feature in Gary Johnson's future plans as has
teenager Richard Parkinson. However, Chris Giles, Roy
O'Brien, Andy Lindegaard, Steve Collis and Olivier
Brassart have all been offered new contracts and teenage
midfielder Faisil Mali has been offered a part time
contract.
