  The Season So Far

Poor old Kettering have been relegated after Tuesday nights 2-3 defeat at home to Forest Green Rovers. If the rule change* goes ahead it will take four straight wins for the Poppies and Leigh RMI or Nuneaton losing their remaining games with a few goals required as well to save them.

It will be galling if they are the only team to go down though after near neighbours Stevenage** somehow changed the rules on relegation near the end of the season, although the 'Boro don't need that escape route anymore!

Last Saturday saw a 1-4 defeat at home to Farnborough in front of their second lowest crowd of the season and even more fans deserted them on Tuesday night with only 422 turning up.

Barnet seem to be rejuvinated after the departure of Peter Shreeves although they did suffer a 1-2 defeat away to Southport a couple of Saturdays ago.

After having a couple of weeks without a game and Kettering having played mid-week the Bees should stroll this one. Their shooting has got to be better than what I saw on the training ground today (Tuesday) though. If you ever go to the Furzefield centre don't park your car behind the goal! (Or on the centre's roof Danny!)

* The Conference has agreed in principle to enlarge the league to 24 teams from next season. This would be achieved by only relegating one team at the end of this season. If my understanding is correct it has to be ratified by the FA, which is unlikely.

** This ridiculous idea was put forward by Farnbrough, whoops, Stevenage chairman, Phil Wallace.

Phil's Prediction
Barnet 3 Kettering 0
