Attendance Stats

Below is an attendance graph for the 2002-03 season. Also shown is the average up to that game, and last season's average up to the same game.

All the home games have now been played, so this page is the finished article.

The colours are as follows:

  • Dark Purple - This season
  • Light Purple - This season's cumulative average
  • Yellow - Last season's cumulative average

This season's average attendance - 1344
This season's lowest attendance - 769 (18/03/03, Southport, Conference)
This season's highest attendance - 1909 (08/03/03, Stevenage, Conference)

  Notes

These figures also include cup games. Click here for last season's stats.

There were more home games last season (as there were more home cup games). The averages used for comparison at the end of the season have therefore started counting backwards from the end of last season - so that when the final average is known it will be the average at the end of both seasons. I have used the mean average, by the way.

For stattos (or is it stattoes?) other figures include:

  2002-03 2001-02
Mean 1344 1437
Lowest 769 787
Highest 1909 2456
Quartile 1 1105.75 1282.5
Median 1331.5 1370.5
Quartile 3 1579.75 1555.25
Standard Dev 298.75 387.88

Interestingly, last season's third quartile was 1555.25 so this season's is slightly higher at 1579.75. In other words, one quarter of the games last season had attendances over 1555, but the same proportion of games this season were over 1579.

But there is no getting away from the fact that this season's average attendance is down by nearly one hundred. Although if you compare the median averages - which aren't influenced so much by extreme data (very high or low) - the drop less than 40.

The standard deviation is lower, which means (I think - I'm not a statto!) that the attendances didn't vary as much compared to last season.
