Barnet's History in the Herts Senior Cup
(up until the second round of the 2003-04 season)
This page charts the history of Barnet FC in the Herts Senior Cup.
I have produced it given the excitement (?!) that we have reached the semi-final this season and because, quite frankly, I had nothing better to do.
It is based on the results history that is elsewhere on this site. As we are only up to S (in alphabetical order of teams we've played) there may be some teams missing. Most notably, Watford - whom I expect may have been our downfall on more than one occasion...
Where the details are missing I have entered a question-mark. There are quite a few of these where we have won a round but there are no details of the next round in the results history (I suspect we may have played Watford at these points).
Some of the details I have deduced. For example Baldock, for some reason, we don't have the details of the round we played them in in our history. So I have worked this out from the other rounds where I can.
But given how fed up I was getting, and thinking that I really should have something better to do, there may be some errors among this.
If you spot any then please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
A couple of other points worth noting are that there are some seasons where - unless we played Watford in the first-round and lost - Barnet didn't appear to enter the cup. I suspect it's the former.
According to Steve Wilmott from the Barnet FC History Website, when Barnet turned pro in 1965 they became ineligible for the then amateur competition. When the FA abolished the amateur/pro distinction ten years later (1975-76) they re-entered.
There is one Watford game recorded below, as I went to that game. Although I cannot remember the score, or what round it was. I believe it was the first round we had played that season, but we may have got a bye (as we did this season). I only remember that we lost. There is also a fairly amusing story with that game that involves me, the Durham Suite and a broom cupboard. But I have told it more than once on the messageboard and cannot be bothered to re-tell it here.
Each new season starts with an amber stripe.
