Programme Notes

Morecambe, 04 October 2003

Good Afternoon and welcome to BFCSA page.

I DON'T BELIEVE IT!

I'm sure I'm not the only supporter who has been taken by surprise at the magnificent start to the season (and that's with no offence to Martin Allen). With just over a quarter of league games played the Bees are sitting in third place with 24 points. At this rate we could end up with around 90 points and Graz could score over 40 goals!

But lets not get too carried away, there's a long way to go and we don't want to sound like the Manager of another team, not a million miles away, who was in a 'state of shock' after his team had lost a couple of early games. And that was before they were outclassed by the 'Mighty Bees'!!

I'll bet Martin Allen and the Lads are very satisfied with the results so far. In fact if you look closely at them you will see that Morecambe, today's visitors, are the sixth team in the current top eight that we have played. We've taken 11 points out of 15 from those games and not lost one of them.

Last time out we went up to Shrewsbury and claimed all three points and went above them in the league. Chester is the remaining team to play from the leading pack and we go there on the 15th November, so a good result there will definitely show we are a team not to be messed with.

MORE SUPPORTERS NEEDED!

As I've already said the Lads are playing their part so far this season, so now it's our turn - the supporter's - to show the club our appreciation.

The travelling fans were out in force again up at Gay Meadow, with about 200 making a vocal contribution to the proceedings. It amazes me the dedication and expense some of you go to. Near the end of last season I heard about a young lad of 16 who had worked out he'd spent nearly £700 following the Bees around the country! That's dedication.

So what else can you do? The average home attendance must surely go up now the team is riding high. I've already noticed a few missing faces coming back. So, if you know someone who was once a regular get on the phone, e-mail them or go round and see them and tell of the 'New Barnet Experience'. Also tell anyone who shows an interest, get them down to Underhill, they won't be disappointed!
