Match Preview

Two sides with very differing starts to their seasons. The Daggers have picked up a grand total of zero points from their two games so far against Leigh RMI and Stevenage whereas Barnet have picked up four points against Telford and Farnborough Town. People who were at Cherrywood Road on Tuesday night would probably be in agreement with me when I say we should really have six points. A good Barnet turnout that night and another is guaranteed on Saturday for the short trip round the M25 or the Northern/District Line for some of us.

Dagenham fans have said that they were poor up in Leigh and deserved to lose but were perhaps unlucky against our good friends Stevenage Borough whose stand-in keeper Nathan Abbey played an absolute blinder to keep out a barrage of Daggers pressure towards the end of the game. Some fans have been a little sceptical of Garry Hill's selection players wise with some apparently being unsettled. Keith Scott who signed less than a month ago has already been shipped out on loan to Tamworth who have also had a poor start to their season.

Don't be fooled by their start though, they are still a very strong side capable of beating anyone in this league and they will be keen to make up for a very disappointing start. If we can find some of Saturday's form, it'll be a very tough encounter indeed.

Victoria Road The Glyn Hopkin Stadium (part of a sponsorship deal) is the venue for Saturday's game as Daggers look to bounce back from two defeats. They have had a busy summer transfer wise with plenty of players going in and out, including the Pipers from Farnborough Town.

Last year, Daggers took the mick out of us on a terribly cold evening in January, 5-1 was the eventual scoreline. Some of us decided it would be fun to sing nursery rhymes to keep us entertained, well me and Nik Myles anyway. Although the next game we played we won emphatically (4-2 at Halifax) so perhaps it was a blessing in disguise.......maybe not.

The first match between us I went to was one of my all time favourites, the 2001/2002 game where we thrashed you 4-0 at Underhill. I was just into the phase of being a regular Barnet supporter having been a hovering fan for the past year. What a great night it was, for us anyway, Peter Shreeves and Martin Allen had just taken over and we seemed to be beating everyone no matter who they picked. More of the same please!

Daggers will be keen to bounce back from their start of season setbacks and are still a very good side. Our defence still looks very solid although going forward may be a problem. I can see us winning but I'll still be happy with a point
