| Match Preview | |||
It's back to the league again for Barnet after it took 180 minutes to dispose of Stalybridge Celtic in the FA Cup. A 2-0 victory at Bower Fold on Tuesday night saw that Barnet booked a trip to newly promoted Yeovil Town in the second round. Forest Green were stopped in their tracks at the first attempt and were beaten 3-1 at home by Aldershot. In the league Barnet haven't been putting in the best of performances of late but are still grinding out results which is something we certainly wouldn't have done last season. Last week 254 Barnet supporters turned out with noise and passion as we were beaten 1-0 by top of the table Chester City at The Deva Stadium, Chester fans commenting that we were the best supporters to have travelled there this season and if I'm honest, I'd find it hard to disagree with them (because I haven't seen the other teams play there of course!) Forest Green have possibly the friendliest supporters you could ever hope to meet and we have organised a supporters match to kick off at 12:00 on the pitches behind the South Stand, so get down there and support the supporters! Hopefully it will be a great occasion, it's our first fans match for a long while, certainly my first anyway. I hope that
Barnet can take advantage of Forest Green's away record
but just like every other game in the Conference, it
ain't gonna be easy. |

| Forest Green
Rovers, I love the place, it was the venue of my first
away game and I was in for a treat and a half in a
fantastic 2-2 draw. The following year was an even more
unbelievable advert for the Conference as 871 paying
spectators were treated to a 4-4 draw where Barnet were
leading 2-0 and 4-2 and somehow managed to throw it all
away. They boast a modest average crowd of 780 which is lower than they have had for their past Conference seasons although with Hereford and Shrewsbury still to visit, that figure could be greatly increased. Even the Barnet game in the latter stages of the season could see hordes of away supporters pushing the attendance up if we are still near the top (or am I just dreaming!) Rovers have had a reasonable start to this season with two of their five wins coming away from home at Farnborough and Leigh and mixed with an OK home record they lie in 16th place in the table, below Dagenham on goal difference and hovering six points clear of the drop zone. Their top scorer
is ex-Cheltenham veteran Neil Grayson with a total of 6
in all competitions. The statistics would point to a home
victory but it all depends on whether Forest Green can
capitalise on Barnet's mediocre performances of late. |
