Match Preview
Both teams progressed through the FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round over the weekend but that will go on the back burner until next week when the two teams meet at Underhill.

It's fair to say that Northwich aren't doing all that well. They've collected eight points from fifteen games and that includes a solitary victory against Tamworth, twelve games ago. Crowds have been dwindling since they moved to Wincham Park but have shown a slight improvement with an average of 749. On the road they have only picked up one point from seven games and you would think that all the omens point to Barnet's 10th victory of this campaign.

Once again, Northwich have been in the goals, for and against. They had an amazing 4-3 defeat at Aldershot where they were 4-0 down with ten minutes left on the clock. The next weekend they travelled to The Shay where they were beaten 5-3 by Halifax - although they have gained their revenge on them by knocking them out of the FA Cup on Saturday. More recently they were beaten 5-1 at home by the ruthless and relentless Hereford United.

The Bees seem to have turned it around after two poor performances at home to Exeter and away to Tamworth. A comprehensive win at Leigh RMI and a very professional job done at Bracknell Town in the cup have put the Bees back on track and they will look to build on their fourth place. They currently lie two points behind second placed Chester (who we meet in two weeks time) and four points behind Hereford. Once we have played Chester we will have played all of the top 9 teams and if we can stay at the top, that will be some achievement especially after last season.

I keep mentioning last season because this season, already, has been far better than last season's efforts. We have a talented team rather than talented individuals and Martin Allen has got the whole club going again. He has turned a big corner and the good times are ahead!

Let's carry on with the fun we're having.

Northwich, currently based at Witton's Wincham Park have had a poor start to the season. If they can pull themselves out by the end of the season, they will have a bright future with a brand spanking new stadium ready to be finished. Hopefully for them, the attendances will increase as a result of this as they have been dwindling since they had to move to Wincham Park.

On the pitch, the team has not been inspiring with just eight points and 21st place. Chris Ward is their top scorer with just four goals and Steve Garvey has also chipped in with three. Johnny Allan (yes, THE Johnny Allan who ballooned that shot from two yards out about 30 miles into orbit!) has two.

In last season's encounter, free scoring Greg Blundell put the Vics in front but the scores were soon levelled. Northwich then steamed into a 3-1 lead but two late goals pulled it back for Barnet until John Doolan volleyed into his own net with three minutes left to give Northwich a 4-3 win. On the last day of the season at Wincham Park, Junior Agogo gave Barnet the lead but Northwich soon equalised. With the result, Barnet finished 11th and qualified for the LDV Vans Trophy.

Northwich need a turn in results and this would be a great place to start.
