Everything but the goal as The Millers steal victory By Andrew Taylor A fine sunny afternoon greeted the travelling support for the final match of the season. The Bees were once again forced into changes due to injury. Ashley Carew missed out with Jordan Parkes coming in at right back. The home side dominated the early exchanges with the Barnet defence at times seeming unable to cope with Rotherham's five man midfield ploy. On eight minutes it was no surprise when The Millers took the lead, The Bees failed to clear a looping cross by Dale Tonge and there was Jamie Green to lash home from the left hand side of the box, it was a good finish leaving Harrison with no chance. After the opener Barnet started to come into the game but chances were at a premium, Jordan Parkes hit a shot just over from 25 yards. Then came the visitors most clear cut chance coming from the best move of the half, Jason Puncheon on the left crashed in a shot which Andy Warrington could only parry out to Albert Adomah whose shot was well saved by the Rotherham keeper. That was the last meaningful action of the half and the referee blew to signal the end of the first 45 minutes, a half of little quality and few chances with Jamie Green's goal the difference between the sides. Half Time: Rotherham 1-0 Barnet The second half started with Barnet dominating possession and seemingly finding it easier to penetrate The Millers defence, a good move between Puncheon and Albert Adomah resulted in Adomah having a shot cleared of the line by The Millers defence. Wave after wave of Barnet attacks then followed as Cliff Akurang then had two good chances, the first a header just over the bar then from a Nicky Nicolau cross Akurang at full stretch just poked it wide. Rotherham were soaking up the pressure but on the counter attack had a great chance of their own, Jamie Yates unmarked inside the penalty area hit a shot against the post with Harrison stranded. The visitors continued to dominate and once again Jason Puncheon went close, this time a crisp left footed shot going agonizingly past the post. Moments later Paul Fairclough made a triple substitution, Akurang, Adomah and Birchall being replaced by Grazioli, Thomas and St. Aimie. Kieron St. Aimie was thrust straight into the action where in the space of five minutes he had 3 glorious chances to equalize but all missed the target. In the dying seconds a good build up involving Anthony Thomas and St. Aimie led to Josh Wright seemingly being upended in the penalty area, after mass Barnet appeals the referee decided to book Wright for diving. Full Time: Rotherham 1-0 Barnet The referee signalled the end of the game where a pitch invasion by the home supporters followed, Josh Wright visibly upset at the thought of not playing for The Bees again came over to acknowledge the strong travelling support, this was followed by the rest of the squad showing their appreciation not only for today but the season as a whole. Barnet will certainly feel hard done by to come away with nothing today, despite a poor first half, the second was a dominant display with great passing and possession but they severely lacked the finish required. Jason Puncheon, Josh Wright and particularly Michael Leary really stood out today in what was an assured performance with no reward.
