AGM 2008 Sam Norris, 17 July 2008 This years Supporters Association AGM, held in the Durham Suite last Thursday, was filled mostly by the introduction of new Chairman, Peter Williamson. The new chairman took the opportunity to thank both the committee, and his predecessor as Chairman Keith Doe, for their hard work, and for giving up so much time over the past year in aid of both the Supporters Association and, of course Barnet Football Club. Pete extended this thanks in his Chairman's address to all those who had given up their time in aid of the club and Supporters Association, be it in handing out matchday flyers at Christmas, or in advance, for their help in the up coming community day, which the Supporters Association will be sponsoring once again. Pete went on to highlight the many successes of the past 12 months, including a wonderful centenary dinner to celebrate Underhill Stadiums 100 year anniversary as the home of the Bees, which included a memorable, and perhaps slightly explicit, after dinner speech from former manager Barry Fry, as well as the recent player of the year awards, which have received so much good feed back since May. Pete also mentioned some of his personal aims for the Supporters Association over the next 12 months which included continuing to support it's members and of course, continue to aid the club in it's search for a new stadium. Treasurer Henry Strevens also went over the annual finances, and the new plans for the price re-structuring of the coach travel was explained. There was only one question from the members, regarding footage of our memorable season back in 1990/91. The committee are currently looking into it! Afterwards, Peter handed over a cheque to Paul Fairclough of money raised through the centenary fund to aid in the purchase of Prozone, which Paul then went on to demonstrate. This tool should, as Paul put it "help turn defeats into draws and draws into wins". The technology looked very impressive, and the relationship built with local school Ravenscroft, where many of the pupils will be aiding in interpreting the data for Paul and the squad to draw upon, will no doubt greatly help both parties. The Barnet manager then went on to take a flurry of questions on topics including the new training ground, discipline, transfer targets, the futures of certain players, and the release of others. The Supporters Association wishes to take this opportunity to thank Paul for taking the time to answer these questions and wish him and the squad all the luck in the world for the new season.
