Match Preview

Barnet v Havant and Waterlooville

FA Cup, Fourth Qualifying Round (Replay) - Tuesday, 6 November 7:45pm

By John Snow, 04/11/01

Since our last preview, Havant and Waterlooville have dropped from the top of the Dr Martens Premier, and now lie in fifth place. However, this is only because they have not played any league games since we last met!

They were unfortunate to be knocked out of the FA Trophy on Saturday, when they were beaten 3-2 by Grays Athletic at home. Grays won the match in the eighth minute of injury time. Although Havant were leading 1-0 at half time, Grays came back with two goals in the second half. Havant equalised in the fourth minute of injury time and were obviously expecting a replay until Grays scored the winner in the dying seconds.

With Barnet firing on all cylinders after beating Northampton in the LDV and Ben's hat-trick on Saturday, the boys must surely be looking at making short shrift of Havant and Waterlooville on Tuesday. Although they don't want to be complacent - Havant have already shown they can be a tough nut to crack. Hopefully the superior playing surface of Underhill, with its short grass, should ensure we storm to a resounding victory and the home-tie against Carlisle.
